The Student Transportation Department oversees the safe transportation of eligible students to and from school each day. Omaha Public Schools students may be eligible for transportation based on the Student Assignment Plan, or as outlined in a student's IEP. If you are having trouble viewing the document, you may download the document.Students should be at the stop five minutes prior to their scheduled time and should return home if the bus has not arrived 15 minutes after the scheduled time. If your bus is not running on time, please contact Student Transportation immediately at (531) 299-0140.
At times, a substitute bus may be assigned to your child’s stop. If this happens, the driver will make every attempt to have your child’s original bus number clearly visible in the front side window. Sometimes your child’s bus number may not be visible. If your student cannot clearly see the bus number, be sure to let the driver know so any necessary changes can be made. All official bus schedules and stop information will be provided to families through a student letter via U.S. postal mail from the Omaha Public Schools Student Transportation Division. For the upcoming school year student letters are regularly mailed the first week of August. Contact Student Transportation with questions at (531) 299-0140.
If your school or district has approved transportation for your student, Zum sets up your profile using the information you have provided to your district.
If your student is riding in a yellow school bus, the side of the bus will be clearly marked with “Zum Services, Inc”. You can view the profile of your driver once drivers have been assigned, and share that information with your student.

You will see the actual pickup time on the Ride Details screen, along with an ETA for the drop-off location. The ride details screen will update with the actual drop-off time. You can always track your child’s live ride, including the location of your bus on the map within the Zum app. By default, Zum sends in-app notifications to parents who are logged into the Zum app. Notifications include drivers is on the way. You can change your preference to enable text notifications by clicking Menu on the Zum app, then Account → Notification preferences. You can find all sent notifications by clicking Notifications from the menu of the Zum app. Will I know which driver will be picking up my student? You will be able to review the driver profile on the Zum app in advance of scheduled rides. You will be notified via a text message or in-app notification, whenever a driver is assigned or is changed, in accordance with your district’s policies. If your school district decides not to enable the Zum app or notifications per district policy, you will not be able to see this information or receive notifications.

Yes. By default, Zum sends in-app notifications to parents who are logged into the Zum app. In-app notifications include driver is on the way, and driver is arriving. You can change your notification preferences by clicking Menu on the Zum app, then Account → Notification preferences. Of course, you can always track your child’s ride live, including the location of your bus and its ETA, all within the Zum app.

Zum drivers routinely check for student belongings left on vehicles at the end of each ride after all students have disembarked the bus. Contact OPS transportation at 531-299-0140 to arrange pickup of any lost items.

For most districts, the route number will also be posted on the side of the bus near the doorway. You can view the profile of your driver once drivers have been assigned and share that information with your student.
Once a driver has been assigned to your student’s route, you will be able to view the driver’s profile through the Zum app. The driver’s profile will include their photo and vehicle information, such as vehicle image, vehicle make/model and license plate number.
